This recent quake is a reminder that we are in earthquake country and that your standard homeowners , rental property and commercial property insurance policy does not cover earthquake damage. Even though 90% of homeowners live in seismically active areas, few bother with Earthquake Insurance. That’s a mistake that can cost you everything!
If you are in a sprinklered building it is important to add Earthquake Sprinkler Leakage onto your policy. This will cover your building and or personal property if the fire sprinklers burst during a quake and cause water damage to your building or contents. This coverage is relatively inexpensive and can be added to your commercial property policy
There are several options from a basic earthquake policy that covers the main dwelling to policies that provide much broader coverage for the main dwelling, your personal property, loss of use and other structures ( i.e. walls, pool houses guesthouse, etc.). Coverage is available on your home, rental property and commercial buildings from several insurance carriers.
Rates differ from one carrier to the next. Compare our programs to the CEA’s rate and coverage.
