An earthquake of 6.0 on the Richter Scale was reported in the Bay Area of California, Sunday August 24, by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Insurance carriers have placed a moratorium on purchasing Earthquake insurance in the following counties of California: NAPA, SONOMA, MARIN, SOLANO, CONTRA COSTA AND SANFRANCISCO.
All other counties in California Earthquake Insurance is still available.
This recent quake is a reminder that we are in earthquake country and that your standard homeowners , rental property and commercial property insurance policy does not cover earthquake damage. Even though 90% of homeowners live in seismically active areas, few bother with Earthquake Insurance. That’s a mistake that can cost you everything!
