Changes made to Olympian's Insurance

By June 22, 2017June 8th, 2020Insurance

The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) and the federal government have come to an agreement on providing qualified health insurance to Olympians that meets the Affordable Care Act (ACA)’s standards.

Athletes were surprised to learn that the coverage they had been enrolled in through the USOC was not seen as health insurance under the ACA even though they had been receiving a myriad of benefits under it. Athletes enrolled in the old plan were subject to ACA penalties despite believing that they were properly covered; luckily the Olympians were spared.

The new coverage will not have a premium and will cover those enrolled with removed limits on ER visits and transplants, according to the Wall Street Journal.Insurnace Stethoscope
